Two Injured in DUI Collision on Highway 49

An injury accident on Highway 49 one-quarter mile south of Alta Sierra Drive sent two people to the hospital early Wednesday morning. CHP Officer Mike Steele says the accident occurred in a construction zone at 1:22 a.m.

Ahead of Mackey and also in the southbound lanes was a 52 year old male driver from Grass Valley who had stopped for the construction.

According to the CHP report, Mackey’s 2000 Honda rammed the rear end of the stopped vehicle which was a 2000 Chevy driven by 52 year old Ross Coffee of Grass Valley. The collision caused moderate to major injuries to both drivers. Nevada County Consolidated Fire and two Sierra Nevada Ambulances responded. Both parties were taken by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Trevor Mackey was released to the hospital for treatment but will be facing charges for Felony DUI.
