Two Men Face Possible River Water Theft Charges

Charges have still not been filed against two men, one from Nevada County, who were recently detained for allegedly stealing water from the Yuba River. Chris Stoots, with the law enforcement office for the state department of Fish and Wildlife, says it appeared they were trying to fill a 500 to 1000 gallon tank that was on the back of a truck parked at the river below the Parks Bar Bridge, off Highway 20. He says the warden on the scene suspects the water would be used for irrigating a marijuana garden. Evidence is inconclusive, but…
