The third and fourth of five defendants in a brutal home invasion robbery is on his way to Sate Prison. Eighteen year old Tyler Leal was in Nevada County Superior Court today for sentencing following the acceptance of a plea agreement. Assistant District Attorney Anna Ferguson says Leal admitted guilt to robbery charges.
18 year old Austin Wallace was also sentenced to four years for his participation in the horrific events of December 6th.
Leal and Wallace are two of four defendants that accepted pleas regarding the trial. By accepting the pleas the victim in the case will not have to testify multiple times potentially re-living the crime each time he testifies. The defendants are still being held accountable to the seriousness of the crimes.
The fifth defendant Elliot Roberts is scheduled for preliminary hearing in early October.
The victim in the home invasion suffered a severe head injury while being struck by an object held by one of the attackers. He was then hog tied in the hallway while his home was ransacked. Multiple surgeries have already taken place attempting to correct the physical damage to the victim.
