With six candidates for three seats on the Nevada City City Council, one of the incumbents is on the fence but looks like she’ll be re-elected. The other one? Probably not. Newcomers Doug Flemming and Daniela Fernandez are the top vote getters. Fernandez, who describes herself as a ‘queer latina’, joked that she’s up for the drama that often comes from city council meetings…

Fleming has 505 votes, Fernandez 411, and current Mayor Reinette Senum is in third place with 335. On the outside looking in, Lorraine Reich with 252 votes, incumbent David Parker with 248, and Rick Ewald with 190.
