Two Rollover Accidents Over Weekend

The CHP suspects alcohol maybe the cause for a driver losing control of his car on Pearson Road, Saturday night. CHP Officer Justin Barnthouse says the 70 year old driver lost control of his 2006 Jeep on the private road near You Bet Road. Officer Barnthouse says when the driver lost control he rolled the jeep over.

The driver had no visible injures and was not complaining of any pain, but was taken to Sierra Nevada Hospital for examination. The CHP will be filing a complaint on the driver for driving under the influence.

On Sunday, a truck driver lost control of his truck and trailer late in the evening on Highway 20. CHP Officer Marc Morrison says the accident happened near the Omega rest area fifteen miles north of Nevada City. Officer Morrison says the 23 year old driver of the big rig was unable to make the turn in the road, spilling 65,000 pounds of refuse.

One lane traffic controls were in place for five hours while the truck and refuse were removed from the road. The driver was not injured in the accident.
