Resendes says a deputy soon after located the vehicle going westbound on Interstate 80. He says the driver, 29-year-old Roniqua Watson, of Elk Grove, tried to stop, at one point. But she, instead, opted to keep going, triggering a brief pursuit. It ended with a crash on Highway 193 in the Newcastle area. Resendes says 23-year-old Anastacia Andino, of Folsom, who was in the passenger seat, was detained. But Watson got out and fled into the woods. She was soon after taken into custody, also with the assistance of a CHP helicopter. He says, overall, it was a good outcome and they were fortunate to locate the suspects right away…

No serious injuries to the women. Resendes says there’s no indication they knew the victims or that the baby was in the vehicle before they stole it.
