Nevada County’s unemployment rate in October continues the steady downward trend since the pandemic began. It dropped another point, from September, to six-point-four percent. EDD Labor Market Analyst, Sheila Stock, says another 15-hundred-80 people joined, or re-joined, the county’s work force…
But with the second wave of coronavirus cases, Stock isn’t sure if the normal spike in temporary jobs for the holiday season will occur…
The rate is still more than twice as high, compared to a year ago. There were no dramatic increases in any particular employment sector in the county. But Stock did note a seasonal improvement in Government Services jobs, which includes education, with schools back in session. And the county’s jobless rate is the fourteenth-lowest among the state’s 58 counties.
