Applications will be available, starting the week of March 6th, for organizations that have provided Health and Human Services for at least three years. Timpany says the focus is on food, emergency shelter, and health care. Also notable this year, Timpany says they’ll have a smaller funding pool to tap into. She says it’s mainly due to United Way transitioning to their own food program for the struggling poor, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministries. Timpany says the funding pool has ranged from $50,000 to $120,000 a year, with individual organizations eligible for anywhere from $1500 to $22,000. She says she’s not sure how much that amount will drop. The application deadline will be April 6th, with funding decisions coming out in May. United Way Nevada County also forms Citizen Review Teams to help process applications. If you’re interested, call 274-8111.
