United Way of Nevada County Launches New Campaign

United Way of Nevada County is already launching into next years campaign. Local businesses, cities and the county typically start their campaigns in October by enrolling employees into the payroll pledge process.

United Way of Nevada County Executive Director Megan Timpany says many employees also do fundraisers of their own, like the Nevada County employees Book Sale in the lobby of the Rood Center.

Last year the United Way of Nevada County campaign raised over $200,000 to go back to non-profits in the community that provide basic needs of the community, specifically in the impact areas of Emergency Shelter , Access to Healthcare, and Food. Timpany says this year the local campaign motto is “Growing our local impact through the Power of Ten.”

Also, look for the United Way donation boxes around town. This year they are collecting Gloves and Socks to give away to people who might need them.  All monies raised from the United Way campaign for the community impact fund stay local. Any business that is interested in getting involved with the 2015-2016 United Way of Nevada County campaign should contact the United Way office at (530) 274-8111.   or check their website at www.uwnc.org.
