A much more detailed plan for reducing the impacts from natural disasters in Nevada County will be submitted next month. The final of two public input meetings on the update of what’s called the Hazard Mitigation Plan was held Wednesday evening. But Office of Emergency Services Director John Gulserian says only one local resident showed up and fewer than 5 provided comments at the first meeting in February….

Gulserian says the main goal of the update is to become eligible for new funding from FEMA and the California Office of Emergency Services. He says the current plan, which has been in place since 2011, is 70 pages, while the updated plan will be over 800 pages. Gulserian says it will also include a listing of resources and potential costs for responding to impacts from drought and climate change…
