Board President Joanna Robinson was there when Hospitality House began in 2004, and since then, they have used 30 local churches to provide temporary shelter for those with no place to stay. The new facility has 54 beds, and has computers and programs to help its guests get jobs, and also a kitchen training program. Robinson says they still need to fundraise…
They’ve paid that down to 190-thousand. Robinson says they’ve found permanent housing for about 40 homeless this year. Utah’s Place is named for Hospitality House co-founder, folk singer, and homeless advocate Utah Phillips. Although the official grand opening is today, they won’t be moved in until December 4.
