It’s going to take awhile, but Pacific Gas and Electric has decided to re-paint many of their transmission towers. Spokeswoman Brandi Merlo says the reason is not just for a new look, but because it is environmentally friendly…
Lead-based paint is not illegal, and the work is not required from a regulatory standpoint. Merlo says there about 250 of these towers in Nevada County, and P-G-and-E is letting customers know about the extensive project, even though it may be more than a year before the work is actually done…
The utility is also working with the Nevada County Department of Environmental Health.
