While the statewide Stay-At-Home order has helped slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s also resulted in some children missing their recommended vaccines. Nevada County Public Health’s Director of Nursing, Cindy Wilson, says it’s hoped that will change soon, with more preventive services available again, under Phase Two reopenings…
The State Department of Public Health says the number of shots given to children up to 18 years old in California was down 40-percent in April, compared to a year ago. Wilson says even with a loosening of restrictions and doctor’s offices reopening for routine care, many parents may still have COVID-19 fears. But she says a number of precautions are in place, including at the Nevada County Public Health office…
And Wilson says parents and students should already start taking care of necessary vaccinations for next school year now, for such diseases as measles and whooping cough, and not wait until just before classes resume in August.
