With rain on the way, the California Department of Public Health is urging residents to get ready for the flu season by getting vaccinations. The Department says flu usually begins to increase in late November or December. But Nevada County Health Officer, Doctor Ken Cutler, says now is a good time to get a shot…
Cutler says it also takes a couple of weeks for a vaccination to become fully effective. Meanwhile, one major change this season is that the vaccine may only be offered through an injection…
The state expects there to be enough injectible vaccine to meet the demand this season. Cutler says you can ask your regular doctor about getting a shot, or you can find a link on the county health department’s website about upcoming clinics, which are usually held on Thursdays. He says flu cases are low so far this fall.
