A sheriff deputy almost hit head-on, a chase, a crash, and a foot pursuit ends with an arrest on Dog Bar Road Thursday afternoon. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says the incident began just before noon when a deputy was almost hit by a car that had crossed the double yellow line.
Sheriff Royal says that citizens in the area were assisting the officer by pointing in the direction that vehicle was going and one man was almost hit by the suspect.
While running the vehicle license plates, it turns out to have been reported stolen from Nevada City and the driver identified as 18 year old Dylan Walker. Walker lost control of the vehicle going off the road into a ditch near Lorrie Road where he abandoned the car and took off on foot.
At that point Walker headed back onto the road where other officers responding to the scene were able to apprehend and take him into custody. Walker was charged with vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, evading a peace officer, and driving without a license.
