Victim Identified in Suspected Homicide

The victim in a suspected homicide that occurred on Banner Mountain Monday night has been identified. Nevada County Sheriff Captain Jeff Pettitt says the victim is Brian Anthony Spaulding, 41 of Nevada City. Pettitt says that an apparent cause of death has also been identified but needs to be confirmed by the coroners office.

Multiple agencies are collaborating with the sheriff’s office on the homicide investigation.

Sheriff deputies originally responded to a 911 call of a physical fight on Forest View Drive in the Banner Mountain area shortly after 11:00 PM. Upon arrival the located the deceased victim.
