Every year, the Grass Valley Police Department does a survey to see how residents feel about the department, and which kinds of things are of the greatest concern. Police Chief Alex Gammelgard says there are five areas that are always at the top, and this year is no exception…
Gammelgard says the consistency is good, because it shows that they are continuing to focus in the right areas, instead of having to shift focus on different things every year. Noise, graffiti, youth crimes, loose animals, and gangs are other problems listed, but to a much lesser degree. Gammelgard says his department is also getting high marks from those who filled out the survey…
600 surveys were sent out to a random sample of businesses and residents, and got 127 surveys back. Gammelgard says that 21 percent response rate is a little higher than in years past. Results of the survey were presented to the Grass Valley City Council at its meeting Tuesday night.
