Volunteers Need To Clean Up Homeless Camps

A number of homeless camps were cleared out near the Pine Creek Shopping Center in May, because of hazards they posed, as vegetation was drying out. And now the Grass Valley Police Department is having a community cleanup on Saturday. Police Chief Alex Gammelgard says they’re looking for volunteers. It’s in the Wolf Creek drainage area. Gammelgard says volunteers are asked to show up Saturday at 8am at the wastewater treatment plant entrance, at 556 Freeman Lane. They will be divided up into teams, and there will be all kinds of junk and garbage to dispose of…

Gammelgard says the cleanup will last all morning, but volunteers don’t need to be there the entire time. You are asked to bring gloves and water. Lunch will be provided at Raley’s, after the work is completed. He says an RSVP is appreciated, that you should contact Detective Brian Blakemore, at 274-4367.
