Vote Totals Likely Not to be Updated for Two Weeks

According to the Nevada County Elections Office, there were 24,389 ballots that were not counted on election night. Those votes will be tabulated over the next couple of weeks, with the outcome of two local measures still hanging in the balance. The breakdown is 20, 381 vote-by-mail ballots, 2,012 provisional, 245 voted but not scanned, 1593 damaged ballots that have to be duplicated, and 158 challenged ballots. Measure B, the bond measure for the Nevada Joint Union High School District, needs 55 percent approval for passage and is at 54.18 percent. Measure A, the one-quarter cent sales tax for libraries, needs 67 percent and is at 69 percent. According to a press release, the vote totals are not expected to be updated until November 23.
