Water Concern at Washington Ridge Camp

The drought related conditions in Nevada County are having a direct effect on a specific area of Western Nevada County and touches an important fire fighting resource. CALFIRE Division Chief North Operations Unit, Chris DeSena, says the Washington Ridge Conservation Camp is experiencing uncharacteristically low well water access.

Washington Ridge personnel respond to numerous calls involving fire, floods, and search and rescue emergencies. The agency is taking proactive measures to ensure continued service.

CALFIRE is also periodically providing potable water deliveries to supplement well production.

DeSena says CALFIRE is developing a series of  plans that should enable the agency to keep the Washington Ridge Camp open and not impact emergency response.
