Water Leak Closes Overcrossing

If you use the Banner Lava Cap Road overcrossing, you may have noticed it’s been closed since early Tuesday. Nevada Irrigation District Water Operations Manager Chip Close says they have a couple of water lines into the bridge. And one of them has sprung what he describes as a very small leak. But the nature of the repairs still requires traffic to be banned…

And while that means traffic disruptions, Close says there’s been no halt in water service…

Close says he’s not sure what caused the leak. But he says it’s likely just wear and tear, that the lines were built in the 1960’s. He estimates the overcrossing will reopen by either late tonight or sometime on Thursday. In the meantime, there are multiple alternate routes that are available.
