Water Outlook Concerns as Spring Approaches

With historically low snow pack in the Sierras as winter wraps up, water availability for the rest of the year is becoming more of a concern. NID General Manager, Rem Sherzinger, says the lack of snow means no water for reservoirs later this season.

Sherzinger says that there is some good news though.

Because snow melt will not be refilling the reservoirs, NID will be putting conservation measures in place for 2015. Because NID customers did a good job conserving water last year, the same measures will be in place this year.

Sherzinger clarifies that customers will not be asked to conserve more water than last year.

NID customers on average conserved over 16% through 2014 which was among the highest in the state.
The State Water Board meets on March 17 and will provide NID more guidance on conservation implementation.
