We Will Miss You, Johnny

The community is stunned with the news of the passing of John Kane this past weekend.  John was the owner of Kane’s Restaurant in Grass Valley, taking a brick building no history of success, and turning it into a main hub for eating and socializing in Grass Valley’s downtown.  That did not happen overnight, and it did not happen just because of great food or happy hour drink specials.  It happened because of the man, John Kane.   John was a great businessman with keen instincts on giving the people what they wanted.  He also embraced this community like few others have in such a short time, donating his time, his talents, and his facilities to so many non-profits.  He hosted our annual Penny Pitch.  The Cornish Choir was back on the radio from his restaurant on Christmas Eve.  It might be tough for us here at KNCO to deal with John’s passing, but nothing compared to his Maria, John’s children, and his extended family…the staff at Kane’s Restaurant.   My prayer is for peace to all of them during this time of mourning.   Kane’s will continue on, and a great way to show your love and support, is to continue to patronize the restaurant in the day, weeks and months ahead.   But no doubt… I will miss you, Johnny.
