Weekend Business Mostly Good for Grass Valley

More people definitely on the streets than a year ago, and business is moving in the right direction for most establishments. Grass Valley merchants including Lillie Piland at Yuba Blue says Black Friday, Cornish Christmas, and Small Business Saturday were much busier than a year ago.

Dave Williams at Williams Stationary says the crowds helped but sales weren’t quite as good as last year.

Susan Amick at Foothill Mercantile says Cornish Christmas drew quite a crowd, and business has been good.

Grass Valley Downtown Association Executive Director Marni Marshall also says that bringing back traditions such as the Cornish Carol Choir also helped with shopping spirits.

Adding two adult beverage stations on the street also added to the festivities.
Cornish Christmas continues again this week, and Victorian Christmas kickoff in Nevada City is on Sunday.
