Weekend Fires In Nevada County Quickly Doused

There was fire activity in Nevada County over the weekend.  A Vegetation fire broke out in Penn Valley at Valley Oak Court, near Western Gateway Park, around 2pm yesterday (Sunday) . It was first reported as a brush fire into a tree and was quickly contained. Then at 3:55 PM Air attack was over an incident in the Higgins area on Adamson. It was an approximately 1 acre fire. There was no threat to structures and the fire was contained within 20 minutes.
at 4:29 PM Duncan Peak Lookout reported a possible vegetation fire in the area of Holly Davo Place, off of Rattlesnake Road . A spotter plane reported a fire approximately 1/2 acre in heavy fuels. Tanker 88 was in the vicinity and was able to drop retardant on the fire, halting its spread.
