Nevada City resident John Givens thought he’d walk into a standing-room only crowd when Grass Valley School District trustees took up the consolidating with the Nevada City School District. But the Thursday Aug. 2 meeting drew a mighty meager turnout.

Grass Valley district Superintendent Eric Fredrickson says a decision on consolidation is a long ways away, and until then a crowd is likely rare.
