I guess it comes from growing up in a nearly all male family, my poor Mom had to deal with 4 men!  I have no sisters, a couple of girl cousins were as close as it got to any female support for Mom.  As a youngster around the dinner table, a request to “Pass the rolls” would very possibly result in rolls being flung about.  And if the tossed roll was less than a crisp tight spiral, or a humming fastball (depending on the season) the recipient of the roll was expected to respond with a loving comment along the lines of “Nice toss Alice”.   I say this because I think it explains why when I run out of my non-scented guy soap, and have to use a flowery substitute from my wife’s side of the shower, I feel like hiding all day.  I normally feel very comfortable in my skin, heck I even have a couple of pink shirts I’ve been known to wear.  But when I walk into the station reeking of Plumeria or Honeysuckle, or Lilac, I expect a dinner roll upside the head!
