It’s been a long ten days, but firefighters now have the Wind Complex fires fully contained. CalFire announced the 100 percent containment on all four fires in the complex in their update at six o’clock last night. The total acreage was 17,037 with 398 structures burned, including 203 residences, 194 outbuildings, and a commercial structure. There are still 272 personnel on the scene, and CalFire spokeswoman Mary Eldridge says they will likely still be there for quite awhile…
With a line fully around the fires now, the concentration is more on hot spots and repair work, with the flames eventually burning themselves out. Four people died–all of them in the Cascade Fire in Yuba County. Eldridge says even though several other fires in northern California have been more severe, the Wind Complex is still one of the worst fires in state history…
42 people have died in all of the northern California fires.
