Windblown Wildfire Contained In North Auburn

The gusty winds Friday did result in one significant vegetation fire for Cal Fire’s Nevada-Yuba-Placer unit. Captain Scott Eckman says it started near Big Hill Road and Bella Vista Drive in the North Auburn area….

But Eckman says the blaze, which started late in the morning, did destroy a woodshed. But no homes were affected and acreage was contained in about half an hour…

Eckman says crews did a great job, considering the difficult terrain and access. The cause is unknown. There were 12 engines, 4 air tankers and hand crews, and 2 helicopters and bulldozers, with the Auburn, Fowler, and Newcastle agencies also providing assistance.
