Spring is officially here (as of 3:28am Pacific Time), and it couldn’t come soon enough for a lot of people, including government officials tallying damage from all of the winter storms. Nevada County Chief Executive Officer Rick Haffey is happy that winter is over…
Haffey says storm damage totals are at one-point-one million dollars right now in just the unincorporated areas of the county, and that number could go higher if this spring turns out to be a wet one. Disaster declarations have been made, and Haffey says all of the paperwork has been filled out to both the state and federal governments for help pay for the cleanup, but the process is a lengthy one…
The major repairs will be made after the rainy season is over, but Haffey says the cleanup is a continual process as storms come through.
