Woman Causes Traffic Backup on Highway 49

A woman running through traffic and apparently stabbing herself brought traffic to a standstill on Highway 49 near Joeger Rd Tuesday morning. Placer County Sheriff Information Officer Lt. John Poretti says that the initial report of the woman running through traffic came in from an off duty officer. When officers arrived on scene traffic was at a stand still and the woman was in the middle of the road yelling and screaming.

Poretti says verbal commands given by the deputies were ignored and one officer attempted taze the woman but was unsuccessful.
Officer kept giving verbal commands to stop, but she turned a way from them.

The woman, reported to be 60, was taken to Auburn Faith Hospital for further evaluation.
