A woman has died following a residential structure fire in the 14 thousand block of South Ponderosa Way just off McCourtney Road this morning and  one man has been flown out by air ambulance with burns.  Nevada County Consolidated Deputy Fire Marshal Terry McMahan  says the fire was reported at 6:22 a.m.  this morning and the house  was 50 percent involved when firefighters arrived.  The homeowner  told firefighters that his wife did not make it out of the house.

Fire engines from Grass Valley Fire, Nevada City Fire, Nevada County Consolidated, Cal Fire, and Higgins Fire Departments  were all on scene.  The Nevada County Coroner and Sheriff’s Department investigators have been called out to assist in the investigation of the fire.  McMahon says several items were stored in the one story house which was   1,900 sq. ft. in size.
