It was two years ago this month that the non profit Women of Worth Organization opened Hetty’s Haven as a safe haven where women could go to escape from domestic violence and abuse. Sandy Schmidt the creator of Women of Worth says the home at an undisclosed location in the county has sheltered thousands of women and their children in emergency situations .

Next Week Women of Worth will open a new home, Kelly’s Kottage for transitional women leaving Hetty’s Haven but not quite ready to go out on their own.
The community can support Women of Worth by attending a barbecue event tomorrow evening at the Nevada County Contractors Association Building on Crown Point Court in the Whispering pines Business Park.
