Women of Worth Ribbon Cutting on New Facility today

This is a big day for the Women of Worth organization that has been working in the community for some 15 years,  helping women and children escape domestic violence. Executive Director Sandy Schmidt says they are moved into their new building in Nevada City and today is the opening celebration.

Women of Worth will be able to offer counseling services from the new center as well as help women get into Hetty’s Haven shelter or Kelly’s Cottage transitional home for women building a new life. Both houses and support services they provide are partially funded  by a thrift store, also at the new location.

Schmidt hopes the community will come out to help them celebrate the new location and all of the expanded services that Women of worth will now be able to provide.

The new location being close to the courthouse will also make it easier for Women of Worth staff to assist clients when they are required to appear in court.
