The Women of Worth have a new location for both their offices and thrift store and they are adjusting to the new facility. Women of Worth is a non-profit organization that provides support to women and families that are victims of domestic violence. To help fund the work they do, Women of Worth runs a thrift store. The store, however, used to be located in the Loma Rica area by the Nevada County Airport and was not the easiest place to get to. So, in October the ReShop began a move to Nevada City.
Reshop Manager, Lolita Westergren, says the new location provides space for the ReShop and the business and meeting space all in one convenient place.
The new location on Church Street across the street from the Courthouse was set up with the help of numerous volunteers and has been designed somewhat like a small department store.
The entire back room of the store is dedicated to women’s clothing which is organized each week by a volunteer that has a merchandising background.
Lolita says the new location in Nevada City has not only increased the number of volunteers and traffic in the ReShop, but it has also benefited women looking for support services.*
Women of Worth gives credit to the volunteers and organizations such as the District Attorney’s Office, the N-U Step Program, and AIM, that have assisted with the move as well as the slough of businesses that donated material and labor to set up the new building.
Women of Worth is located at 224 Church Street in Nevada City.
