What many residents and public officials feel is the growing fire danger in the Yuba River Canyon is the topic of a meeting at the Nevada Theatre in Nevada City Monday evening. Many people feel that the main concern is the increasing number of illegal campfires. One east of Edwards Crossing is believed to have sparked a small fire earlier this week (last week) that was safely contained without damaging any structures. Johnson says more help is needed from private property owners, including reporting illegal activity. Cal Fire sent letters last month. Johnson says campers and other recreationists should also try to apply more peer pressure. The meeting is from 6 to 8pm Monday at the Nevada Theatre in Nevada City.
