Zarriello Appointed as Interim Environmental Health Director

Nevada County is promoting from within in order to fi ll the Interim Director of the Department of Environmental Health
County CEO Rick Haffey says curent program manager Peggy Zarriello will be filling in for Wesley Nicks who moved over to Placer County earlier this year.  Peggy started her professional career with Nevada County over 24 years ago.

Peggy-ZarrielloZarriello works extensively with community stakeholders on emerging environmental and public health issues and brings a well-rounded approach to solutions.
Peggy started as a trainee before she became a Registered Environmental Health Specialist . She has successfully worked with the County’s administrative team for the last 5 years in the Consumer Protection Division.  Peggy belongs to statewide technical advisory committees in food, water and pools;  is a founding member of the County’s Biological, Emergency and Vector Task Force and a regional member of the Council to Improve Foodborne Outbreak Response.  Her professional specialties also include land use, where she worked in the private sector, designing septic and water systems.
Zariello’s appointment is effective as of  June 12, 2013.
