Nevada County Readies for 2018 Election Changes

There will also be ‘vote centers’ scattered around the county where people can either drop off their ballot, vote if they want to vote in person, or get help with a voting question. The Elections Department held a meeting on Thursday, and invited about two dozen so-called stakeholders-political activists, members of the media, a representative from the Secretary of State’s office, and others to get some input. Many things still need to get worked out, including the location of the vote centers. Nevada County is one of 15 counties in the state selected for this pilot program in 2018. It’s designed to make voting easier, with less expense to the county, fewer poll workers, and less provisional ballots to count after the polls close.
