Sierra County Missing Person Now Homicide Case

The remains of a woman missing for fifteen years have been identified by the Sierra County Sheriff. Sheriff John Evans says the woman was reported as missing from Eureka in 1998. The remains were identified as 29 year old Charlene Rosser, who had been visiting friends in Sacramento and then went missing . US Forest Personnel found the remains in north central Sierra County near Calpine in 2003. A Sierra County Deputy assigned to work on cold cases was able to match the remains DNA with the missing persons report from Eureka. Sheriff Evans says they have a person of interest in the case.

The Sierra County Sheriff and Eureka Police are working on the case as a homicide. The Sheriff says the condition of the site and the remains are making it tough to find a cause of death.  Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Sierra County Sheriff at 289-3700.
