Toy Run Returns With More Traditional Format

After the pandemic, a year ago, reduced it to an unofficial event, with a much-shortened route and participation, the Toy Run is officially back on Saturday, and also marking its 30th anniversary. Eric Oliver is the new organizer, taking over for longtime friend Thom Staser. He says it has the usual starting point, at the Rood Center. And it can once again end at the Fairgrounds, which had been closed to all events last year. But he says, due to traffic enforcement staffing challenges, the route will not be going through downtown Grass Valley. They will proceed through downtown Nevada City, as normal…

And now that the Toy Run is sanctioned as non-profit, Oliver says that means they can find sponsors to help fund costs…

Oliver says the goal is to provide each family with a full Christmas dinner. But he still anticipates a reduced participation of motorcyclists this year. As many as 18-hundred often show up. The Toy Run begins Saturday at 11am.
