Two Nevada City Homicides Appear Unrelated

Two apparent murders in rural Nevada City appear to be unrelated at this time.

Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon says the first incident, discovered on Wednesday, involves a British resident and is connected somehow to a police incident in Eureka County in the State of Nevada. Nevada State law enforcement requested assistance with a Nevada City address connected to car that was actively involved in a fatality following a pursuit and shootout.

An autopsy determined the victim died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. It is unclear what, or if there is, any connection between the dead body in Nevada County and the incident in Nevada. A joint investigation continues.

The second incident came to the Sheriff on Thursday and involves a suspect that has been taken into custody Thursday evening. Officers responded to witness reports of violence at an address on the 26000 block of North Bloomfield road.

An illegal cannabis grow was later located on the same property, but the sheriff says the motive is still undetermined as of Friday afternoon.
